What's in a Name?

Sherlock Holmes and Solar Pons

"BowlerPons" is a name that carries deep and creative meaning. This family of Bowlerians is made stronger by the origin story of our name.

Throughout much of the mid- to late 1900s, author August Derleth carried on the legacy and mythology of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved Sherlock Holmes in a series of novels featuring a new consulting detective, "Solar Pons," and his efforts to solve his client’s "unsolvable" mysteries.


Diving deeper, “pons” itself (Latin for "bridge") refers to the portion of the brain stem responsible for relaying sensory information from the rest of the body to the brain for interpretation and response. The pons is also responsible for regulating sleep, allowing us to dream.

Combining these symbols led us to a name that we feel encapsulates our dogged determination and unmatched ingenuity in sleuthing out the best technological solutions and solving our customers' toughest challenges.
